An endurance athlete for over three decades exclusively devoted to running Michelle Halsne can truly be considered an expert in the field of running knowledge. A runner since her teenage years; she ran cross country and track in high school in Colorado, college at the University of Kansas (where she met her husband of 26 years), and kept running while raising her two daughters (ages 25 & 19). She spends most of her time on the trails, but still loves to hit the track for speed work and is always happy to jump into a race of any distance.
Michelle’s first trail race was a 25K race in 1999 and by 2004 she moved to the ultra-distance of 50k. Since then she has run numerous 50 milers and has completed two of the most iconic and challenging 100 mile courses in the USA; the Western States 100 and the Leadville 100. Michelle’s journey to the start line and through the finish line of the Western States was chronicled in the documentary film 100 Miles to 40.
It was during Michelle’s training for the 2012 Leadville 100 that she decided she needed another fueling option beside sugary gels and chewy candy. As an entrepreneurial spirit she always wanted help build a company around her love of running. She combined her business degree from the University of Washington and vast experience from her years in the medical device industry and her passion for endurance sports to help create Fuel 100™.
